About Hyarks
Hyarks is an innovative marine technology company delivering advanced unmanned solutions for the maritime ecosystem. We design and build next generation USVs that improve safety, reduce costs and support sustainable operations. Our market ready platforms include H-1 for offshore, aquaculture and defense industries and TF-100 for tuna fishing support and multi-domain autonomy. We are committed to transforming how ocean work is done and creating practical solutions that make a real impact. Join Hyarks and help shape the future of unmanned maritime operations.
The Role
As a Perception Software Engineer Intern at Hyarks, you'll develop critical computer vision and perception systems for our autonomous vessels. Your work will enable the vessel to navigate safely by identifying obstacles in the marine environment.
Responsibilities
Generate visual detection footage.
Implement vessel-detection algorithms using multiple cameras.
Create camera-based obstacle detection and positioning from USV cameras.
Optimize detection models for real-time performance in maritime environments.
Test perception systems across varied weather and lighting conditions
Requirements
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Computer Vision, or a related field
Basic programming skills in Python
Exposure to computer vision libraries (OpenCV, PCL, or similar)
Familiarity with machine learning concepts or frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or YOLO) is a plus
Interest in robotics, ROS, and sensor data processing
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with C++
Experience with deep learning for object detection and segmentation
Knowledge of navigation stack and costmap integration
Previous work on robotics or autonomous systems projects
Familiarity with maritime or outdoor perception challenges
What We Offer
Alongside the chance to contribute to impactful, real world projects, we offer:
A modest paid internship that still provides valuable hands-on experience
Significant learning and growth opportunities across multiple domains
Supportive mentorship from our core team
Flexible working hours, with a standard 15-20 hour work week
